2005 -- May's snippets
8th May -- We went to Toys R Us today, I was toooootally horrified. It was like some bad trip or something -- they have these plastic watermelons and chicken drumsticks that look like deep fried mars bars, and fake cookers and fake Dysons. Blimey, Evie can use my *real* Dyson if she wants to do that sort of thing! It's all odd, these pretend things, I want Evie to learn from reality. I don't object to her having toys, but I have to say, I did feel sick when leaving that place. And they can't even write the R the right way round -- what kind of example is that setting to children about spelling? Was over at parents house last week. Got a tan in Jen's garden and Evie went on the trike Jen bought her. Needless to say we were all a bit more excited than she was. My oldest nephew is now bigger than Jen and he wears white Adidas and has a bird. How did that happen?
Ah, the book's going really well! Thanks you all for buying it. I really have enjoyed the journey that took me on. We're going to have a Raw Chocolate Party at the event, and we've all got to dress up as some kind of raw-loving-living-cacao-smooth-green-super-being and there's going to be a prize for the best cozzie. Er, so if you're coming, please dress up as I don't want to have to present myself with a prize! Am planning my next book already. I don't think that one will take so long -- Naked Chocolate was 2 years in the making. This next one will be out by the end of the year. Evie isn't crawling yet -- she keeps doing the downward dog and not realising that she needs to bend her legs. It's very cute. I have this little yogini body suit that someone made her, and a matching top for me -- I should get a piccie of us both doing yoga while it still fits her. Ooooh! Got some of my pre-preg trousers on today, so weight is doing what I've been telling it and shifting. Was v excited about that. Now, I know I did say 9 months on 9 months off, but I didn't take into account the mega emotional stuff that I've been dealing with. Anyway, now that's all sorted, this last stone is going to melt off. Especially as I keep telling it. Mortgage offer came through this week, so my house move is one step closer. Can't wait -- am so excited about decorating, having a garden, being back with my mates and all that. Am probably going to rejoin the gym as they have a creche so I can work out then take Evie swimming. And finally, before night nights -- I must stop doing this... You know the little moisture absorbers that you get in the bags of raw cacao? I've twice poured the cacao into my vita-mix along with that bag, and not noticed until I take a mouthful of paper. Had to throw it away today -- just couldn't stomach it. Don't think it's toxic as they wouldn't be able to put it in, but it's not nice. So, am going to sellotape it to the bag on the next one. OK, am off to bed now to snuggle my little poppet. Oh, we measured her the other day, she's 28 inches tall. That's over 2 foot already! She's big girl now! Happy pillow time xxx. 12th May -- Finally! New web site! Better shopping experience! Can unveil my new web site (may not be live for you for 72 hours so do check back). I've been working really really full on with it over the past 3 months. It may not look too different, but it's now fully integrated and so you don't have 2 different shopping experiences. We can do all sorts of groovy special offers and things on it. Must give a really big massive thank you to Pete at Alphastate for being my techie angel on this project. Couldn't have done it without him and don't even know how I found him. One minute I was mailing a load of companies wanting a new online shop, the next Pete popped up as a pass-on coz someone else was too busy to deal with me. Am I glad!
Evie's philosophyThey say your kids teach you everything... Evie, when playing in her bath, says "Sometimes you have to let a little duck duck go to get a big duck duck". Now isn't that true? My daughter, she's amazing! Oh, forgot to mention that I went to see Jess and Bob's new baby the other day. He's called Robert Finlay, will be known as Finlay. He's such a poppet -- reminds me of Evie when she was tiny. And that's odd as people get me and Jess mixed up all the time even though we don't look alike. Anyway, Bob took a piccie of Evie, which is wonderful... The Wiggly Woo is crawling!14th May -- Yesterday, Evie's big build up to crawling came to a wonderful climax, when she took her first totally purposeful crawls, all the way across the mat. I was overwhelmed. She was everso funny with it, slapping her hands down in a really comic way. This morning, I videoed her doing it, then when Matt came home from work she showed him her new way of getting about. So now she's mastered that in 24 hours, she's now trying to pull herself up on all the furniture. Big girl. Proud lemon mummy. Lisa's booked tickets for us to go to an all-dayer in Clapham in August. Evie will be just over 1 year, but I've not left her for a day before. Wonder if I'll cope? Tried to express some booboo today as I was supposed to be going out tonight for Louise's birthday, but the expressor's broken. This is the third one. I've never come across such badly made stuff in all my life. So, back to Boots tomorrow, without receipt but with grumpy face. Anyway, in the end I didn't go out as the meal was dead early. Good job in the end as Matt came home late from work. Auntie Jo from next door came round to play with Evie, and we had lunch with Auntie Jane (real auntie) and Uncle Wayne and Evie's Gran. What a day. Am totally worn out today and need a day off. After the event I'm going to give my mum a break, move house, then stop everything for a couple of weeks. No computer, nothing. Hmm... will try anyway. Not too good without computer. |
