2002 -- July's snippets
|

Hm. I was told it'd be scorching in July, but it's not. It's just
really lovely. What is it with these people who can't deal with
the heat? S'pose it's like me not dealing with the cold, but the
other way round. Am going to enjoy the Spanish sun now, after being
in drizzly stormy old Blighty for 2 weeks.

15 July -- Had a great time in the UK. Will write up more soon,
once I've caught up with my work. Must get that done, or I'll have clients
beating down my door. Speak later, potato.
"I appreciate your honesty and I enjoy your
writing, it is very refreshing. nothing comes even close to it on
other websites. If it were not for you I would have never switched,
I have always been a big meat eater and an ultimate veggie hater.
You succeeded in making eating raw look beautiful, and I am a big
sucker for beauty in everything, lol. thank you !!! I hope to meet
you some day and do some yoga on the beach :)"

23rd July -- Just found out that my ex-boyfriend, Steve (not Stevie)
was killed on Thursday 18th July. He was riding his motorbike and a lorry
turned and killed him. Me and Steve used to live together, we had Danka
and Lola, our dogs, and I'd like to remember the 5 years we knew:
To Steve
Here's
to you, and your bass guitar, here's to you and your camera -- you were
going to do something with it all one day. Here's to Lola and Danka, our
beautiful girls, the daft smiley one and the little scared one who always
weed herself when she fell asleep. And to New Model Army and Big Audio
Dynamite, your favourites then, probably still in your top 5 now. Here's
to your trainers you never tied up, and here's to your cut off shorts
with girlie leggings underneath, and you remember all those nights I spent
plaiting your hair? Here's to our home where we shared and we tried, if
we were older or wiser it might have worked, but we had a lot of living
to do and had to do that apart. Here's to our car crash which hurt me
inside, wrote both our cars off, and made us cry. Here's to the trees,
which walked by our side, here's to the sheep and the horses and the cows.
Remember Wales, and the amount of animals trying to get in our car with
us? They must have loved our vibe. Here's to nature, we loved our time
there, camping in the freezing cold, and not getting a wink's sleep. Here's
to Europe, our adventure through countries, when your spirit first saw
so much variety in life. Here's to our friends and the love that they
still share -- to Jek, Danny, Lisa, Jackie, Brenda -- how they cry for
you now, but know you're still there. Here's to your little boy, and all
the future you that I don't know. Here's to your life, Steve, you lived
it so free. I know this world restricted you and ultimately this plane
couldn't hold you. You're now the earth, the sun, the sky, the wind, and
the air that we breathe. You're beauty in everything. You have returned.
Rest in Peace, Mighty Lion, and keep a little music in your soul.
All my love
Shazzie

So I'm going to take the rest of this month off from this column. I am
deeply affected by this and many other things which are happening right
now, and I need personal space. I know you'll understand. Whatever's going
on for you, keep at it, life is abundant in the opportunities it offers
you, so long as you face them, and don't run away, you can only go to
higher and higher places.
